A Tight Atom Buys a Wide System

‘Set the tiniest possible parameters so you can have the greatest range of acceptable outcomes.’ First: a unit is meaningless without its frame — you have to know what ‘1x1’ means in the projection you’re working in before any further calculation has a referent, because 1x1 is a different real-world size in every projection. Then the counterintuitive move: pinning the smallest unit tightly does not narrow your outcomes, it maximizes them. A few rigid definitions at the base license an unbounded space of valid wholes above — the way a small set of axioms generates infinite theorems. Constrain the atom and you free the system; leave it vague and nothing above it is trustworthy. This is the operational engine underneath going-to-the-grid-first: precision at the bottom is what buys range at the top, so the move that looks like reductive fussing is actually the one that opens the most room.
