Shame Disinfectant
Concept · writing · personal_truth · visibility: publishable
A METHOD, not a metaphor. Oversharing + analytical distance + radical transparency removes shame’s power as a social control mechanism. If you name the thing first, with precision and without apology, it can’t be weaponized against you. ‘Sunlight is the best disinfectant’ — not as platitude, but as operative technique. Shame depends on secrecy and the threat of exposure. Pre-emptive transparency collapses the threat. When you are already the most honest person in the room about your own mess, the audience has nothing to use against you. This creates the condition for invitation-with-consequences: you can ask others to examine their mess because you’ve already examined yours. The analytical distance is key — transparency COMBINED WITH rigor. Tish is both the subject and the scientist. Distinct from vulnerability performance (offering softness to be received with kindness).
