New Data, Old Container

Verification (2026-06-17): tools that put Wikidata on a map already exist, several times over — the
WDQS built-in Map view (#defaultView:Map), the academic Wikidata Atlas (del Pino & Hogan), the
Wikidata Geo-Explorer, and the Wikimedia-Deutschland Wikidata Map. So the ‘rudimentary atlas of
semantic data’ is built; do not rebuild it. But every one of them is the old container with new data
poured in: the richest relational dataset on Earth, displayed as dots on a basemap — datum intact,
zoom = scale, one dot per place, no superposition, no chosen geometry. They take the new substrate and
pin it straight back onto S². They do not refute the thesis; they are it — exhibit A, not
competition. The contribution was never ‘put Wikidata on a map’ (done); it is ‘stop treating the map as
the container.‘
