Borders Make the Irreal Real

Phenomena don’t end at borders, yet scientific work is required to operate within them — and doing so ‘perpetuates, allows irreal conditions to become more real.’ Working inside an arbitrary boundary launders the boundary into something that behaves as real. A direct geographic instance of the no-view-from-nowhere spine: the map’s lines feed back into the territory.
