Upstream Equity Compression

‘You are trying to compress an imbalance and have that act as a source of truth downstream. That is a very lossy compression.’ Information-theory argument against equity reform within a biased subset: if the upstream dataset is structurally incomplete, equity work within the recorded group redistributes the error rather than correcting it. Any downstream intervention that doesn’t address source-level data incompleteness inherits the bias. Applied to historical records: women’s systematic exclusion from recorded deaths and decisions means that class-war theory built on that sample propagates the gap downstream.
