Substrate vs. Container

Her working distinction for how she builds a joke or an idea: the substrate is what’s inside (the true thing), the container is how it’s packaged for maximum effect. ‘The aborted buttholes is a standup container’ is, in this frame, a perfectly valid sentence — the bit is a vessel, the meaning is the payload. Arrived at while realizing it’s almost what isomorphism is not: same content can take radically different containers without changing what it is.
