Special Interest Science

Science literacy as a baseline, not a specialty — and ‘Special Interest Science’ as the frame that works on multiple levels simultaneously (autistic special-interest register; citizen science; also just: science is allowed to be your special interest). The concept emerged from noticing that people about to DIY their gel nails, bleach their hair, or ferment their own kimchi need neutral, shame-free, scope-appropriate chemistry — not an expert positioning herself as an authority. ‘Market correction’ not ‘harm reduction’: putting accurate information where the market left a gap, without owning the moral frame.
