Early Over Accurate

Concept · epistemics · hypothesis · visibility: publishable

A diagnosis of how authority actually gets minted: ‘a lot of times so-called gurus are just the ones who start talking about stuff the earliest. They don’t actually know all that much but they’re loud.’ Get early enough to read as a visionary and ‘the public gives you leeway to be a dumbass.’ First-mover epistemics — the person who defines the vocabulary gets graded on a curve forever. She holds the broad version as correct (‘it’s more important to be early than to be correct’) and is openly working out how to use it without being a dumbass herself.
