The Portfolio Career

Architecture · career · personal_truth · visibility: publishable

How she’s structuring income without collapsing the meaningful into the marketable: GIS contract work is ‘the actual money maker’ — her most obviously marketable skill, and a way to keep it current — held deliberately separate from the meaning-work. Leather craft sits in the portfolio too, but unromantically: ‘it’s not a personal interest necessarily. I just love bags, so it’s a necessary skill.’ The architecture is the separation itself: let the practical skill fund the life, and don’t ask it to also be the point.
